Genesis A Clinic will incorporate an innovative community health education program, through which we will provide a variety of health and nutrition services, focusing on preventative measures to decrease the incidence of acute and chronic conditions being experienced by individuals in the community we serve.
The clinic will also provide an essential opportunity for our planned certified nursing assistance (CNA) program. With a shortage of doctors, health services in Cameroon are often provided by nurses. As well as being trained in basic health care, nurses focus on preventative programs and education on matters such as hygiene, nutrition and HIV/AIDS.
A CNA is a member of the health care team, and functions under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The CNA assists the nurse in giving care by performing delegated nursing tasks and procedures; communicating appropriately with the healthcare team, clients, family members, and visitors; maintaining a safe environment; and reporting observations and changes related to the client’s physical and mental health.
CNA students will be recruited, and will be trained under the supervision of qualified medical professionals working in the clinic. We will target local residents who have completed their compulsory education, but who do not currently have the skills necessary to obtain meaningful employment for participation in the CNA education program. Each student will then complete a training program of six weeks in length, which will include both classroom and clinical components. In the program, CNA students will receive instruction in nurse aide skills.
Genesis A Clinic is in the unique position to begin fund raising for the construction of a hospital/ clinic which will administer services to those who otherwise would not have access to such vital care.
